Sue obtained her bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine, with minors in Exercise Science and Spanish from Elon University. After graduating with honors in 1999, she began working as a Medical Assistant in a private Primary Care office and as a Research Assistant in Clinical Pharmacy Practice at the University of Florida. As Sue was gaining clinical experience, she was working with many types of medical and healthcare professionals. She determined that, because of her interests in various fields of medicine, the flexibility of the Physician Assistant role would suit her best.

She attended the Physician Assistant Program at the University of Florida College of Medicine and graduated with her master’s degree in 2004. Shortly after graduation, she moved with her husband to Detroit, Michigan. While there, she enjoyed working as a PA in a variety of specialties and settings including: outpatient Orthopedics, inpatient Cardiac Surgery, and education as an Assistant Professor at Wayne State University’s Physician Assistant Program.

With her husband and children, Sue moved back to Florida in 2013. She has been working exclusively in the specialty of dermatology for several years and continues to find it stimulating and rewarding. Sue maintains her general medical knowledge as a nationally certified Physician Assistant and is studying to become a Diplomate Fellow – the highest award available for PAs in dermatology.

Sue is looking forward to seeing previous and new patients at MidState Skin Institute. Sue said, “I’m honored to be joining the MidState team. It is a family-owned company, that has been providing Ocala’s best medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatologic care since 2013.”
