About Dr. Mav

Dr. John Mavropolous, also known as Dr. Mav, is a board-certified dermatologist, fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon and a member of the American College of Mohs Surgery. Specializing in Mohs micrographic surgery, Dr. Mavropolous brings advanced expertise in the precise removal of skin cancer while preserving healthy tissue and optimizing cosmetic outcomes.

Dr. Mavropolous earned his medical degree from Duke University. After earning his medical degree, Dr. Mavropolous completed his dermatology residency at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, followed by an intensive one-year fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and procedural dermatology at Virginia Commonwealth University. He then pursued specialized fellowship training in Mohs surgery and reconstructive dermatologic surgery, mastering the most effective technique for treating basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and certain melanomas. His meticulous approach ensures the highest cure rates while prioritizing aesthetic and functional preservation.
